The beer brewing process
Malt is produced by germinating brewing barley in the maltery.
At the brewery the malted barley is soaked in hot water.
The enzymes in the malt convert the starch to sugar.
The sugar-rich water, called wort, is drained and inoculated with yeasts that convert the sugar into alcohol.
The yeast is separated from the “young beer” and reused for several cycles.
After which it is deactivated and marketed as a moist animal feed called liquid brewer’s yeast.
