The session explored a key question: how can we transform side streams into real value within a truly circular economy?

Together with participants, we discussed what a circular system could look like by 2030, the barriers that still stand in the way today, and the interventions needed to unlock the full potential of side-stream valorisation.

As a practical example, we demonstrated how potato starch side streams can be transformed into an upcycled food-grade ingredient. This illustrates how circular innovation can simultaneously reduce food waste and lower Scope 3 emissions while creating value throughout the supply chain.

The session sparked valuable discussions on the challenges and opportunities of building a shared vision for a circular future. By bringing together different stakeholders across the value chain, we explored concrete actions needed to accelerate the transition and strengthen collaboration towards a more circular food system.
