A shared vision for safe and circular food systems

The visit opened with a welcome from Jonathan Job, CEO of Duynie, who provided an overview of the company’s Unlock 30 strategy. He shared how Duynie is working towards long-term value creation by unlocking the full potential of co-products and accelerating the transition to a more sustainable and circular agri-industry.

Building on this, Derk van Manen, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, shared key insights on the critical role of food safety when working with co-products. Valorising co-products from the food, beverage, and biofuel industries into high-value, safe food applications requires strict contamination risk control and continuous research for effective risk management. Derk emphasised the importance of gaining new insights, understanding customer requirements, and seeking support when needed to ensure proper risk control and maintain the highest safety standards.

Advancing sustainability through collaboration

Further presentations by Nicole Timmerman, Sustainability Manager, and Tom Brooijmans, Director Ingredients Division, illustrated how Duynie is actively directs the transition towards a circular agri-industry by making optimal use of resources and reducing environmental impact.

Their insights demonstrated how sustainability, food safety, and innovation are closely interconnected and how collaboration across the supply chain is essential to achieving these goals.

Behind the scenes at Ingredients

The visit concluded with a guided tour of the Ingredients production facility, offering the delegation a behind-the-scenes look at Duynie’s processes and the upcycled ingredients produced at the Cuijk factory. The tour provided a tangible example of how theory and strategy are translated into safe, high-quality products in practice.

Looking ahead

We would like to thank the delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature for their visit and the open, inspiring discussions. Exchanging perspectives on food safety and co-product valorisation is essential as we collectively work towards a more resilient, safe, and sustainable food system.
