A team of experts
Rick has been working at Duynie for a couple of years now. With a degree in Forensic Chemistry, he is well suited for the job. As Technical Sales Specialist Rick is part of Duynie’s very own R&D team, which consists of four people in total. Each expert has his or her own area of expertise, whether it be Quality or Production. Rick is responsible for the implementation of Duynie’s products. He provides technical assistance for Sales and clients alike. Although Duynie offers a wide range of starch-based products - from wallpaper glue to paper-packaging - Rick’s focus is on Novinexx CPB. This innovative paper sack glue has many advantages, like an increase in operational output or cost-savings in the production process. Duynie’s custom-made costs savings calculations tool gives a quantification how to realize significant cost-savings throughout the production process. That is all part of Duynie’s service.
Personal service for the best result
Duynie always visits prospects or clients when they are interested in a product, where possible. As Technical Sales Specialist, Rick usually attends with a colleague from Sales. Together they can fully inform the interested party about Duynie’s products. They test with a batch on site to showcase all its advantages during a small-scale factory test, as well as to check if any changes must be made to the production process. After all, a correct implementation is necessary for the client to reap all the benefits from Duynie’s paper bag adhesives. Rick: “If too much water is added, it negates Novinexx CPB’s unique USP of low splashing behavior. Too little water, on the other hand, results in dosage problems. So, it is crucial to know everything about the product to fully benefit from it. I take my time in explaining, because that investment always pays off.”
Service from A to Z
Duynie stays in touch with clients after the implementation. “In most cases I just hear: good to hear from you, but everything works fine!” Occasionally there is an issue. Then Rick runs some tests in the lab with the same batch, to check if the problem lies with the product or with other factors, such as the machine or the production process. Often it is the latter. He gives advice on how to solve the issue, and if necessary, he or a colleague will visit the factory to assist again. Rick: “Recently there was a client in Italy who had some issues. The filters got blocked when they started pumping to a buffer tank. We did a quality check at our factory and solved the problem.”
Constant innovation
Meeting clients is not just a requirement for a correct implementation. It is also a way for Rick to stay up to date about developments and opportunities in the market and use this information to innovate Duynie’s products. Rick quotes an example: “Nowadays paper can be surfaced with a metallic-like coating, as a more sustainable alternative to plastic. This has different requirements regarding the glue. It is our role to find a solution for that and thus always stay on top of things.” Innovation is a core value of Duynie and we pride ourselves on the fact that our products are constantly being updated. Rick and the rest of the R&D team are always looking for new products made from modified starch, as well as running tests to ensure a constant quality. In this way Duynie can always offer the best sustainable starch solutions for its clients.
